This mixed media piece is based on a cherished memory from a family trip to Florida. I wanted to capture the visual scene and the emotional layers that happened during this moment—nostalgia and restlessness. To break up the negative space in a more inventive way, I chose to collage and paint over ripped pieces of newspaper. The layering of the textured base serves as a metaphor for the mixed emotions of the trip. The intersection of the newspaper collage and watercolor symbolizes the meeting of spontaneity. Through this piece, I wanted to transform an ordinary roadside moment into a reflection on personal history and emotion—reminding us that even in the noise and stillness of daily life, beauty and meaning coexist.
