A Word’s Meaning Visualized
Motion, 2026
A motion typography piece animating 18 words using nothing but Helvetica — my first ever project in After Effects. The constraint of a single typeface actually made it more fun, since all the expression had to come from movement itself. Each word gets its own animation that feels true to its meaning, so the motion isn't just decorative — it's doing the storytelling. It was a real exercise in restraint and intention, figuring out how timing, easing, direction, and scale could carry as much personality as color or illustration might in a static piece. Going from zero After Effects experience to building out 18 distinct motion moments was a steep but exciting learning curve, and it completely changed the way I think about type as something that can live and breathe rather than just sit on a page.
